Finally we are able to continue with another one of the 12 Tools of Christmas! Day 5 brings a difference of opinion on what's more useful, so read both points of view to decide for yourself!
Day 5: Screwdrivers (No, we're not talking about the kind Grandpa makes to keep on the boat!) Most people end up with sets of screwdrivers that get cluttered and jumbled together in a drawer, such as the one pictured above. You go to grab one, and it is never the right size or shape you need. The truth is that screwdrivers are about as varied in shape and size as snowflakes. While you will occasionally need a special screwdriver, the average homeowner can handle 99% of regular home maintenance with one of the two options below. Gabe has even admitted to the fact that he could stand to eliminate some of his collection.
Stanley All-In-One - Ladies first, this is Erin's choice of tools when she is doing a project. She loves how comfortable this model is to hold, and how easy it is to flip from flat head to Phillips head, small to large. Her hands are on the small side of average, so many tools end up being awkwardly large for her grip. This can reduce her strength and leverage, so an appropriately sized tool can make a big difference. For most of your screws found in home decor, one of these tips will match. Standard screws are also found in kids' toys, and random appliances/remotes that might need panels removed, so again one of these tips will match. It's not heavy duty, but it will get most around-the-home jobs done.

Craftsman Ratcheting Screwdriver - Gabe prefers to use this Craftsman screwdriver. This is in his tool belt every day. He finds the ratcheting mechanism to be a significant upgrade to your standard screwdriver. The additional tip options also come in handy when interacting with a wider variety of screws. He also appreciates the built in storage in the handle, and the magnetic feature helps the bits to click into place. Plus, it helps hold the screws in place. Any heavy duty torquing or prying will need additional tools, but for the majority of home projects this one tool will work perfectly and help keep your junk drawer cleaner!

Regardless of which one you go for, one really nice advantage to the multi-tip screwdriver is that you can replace broken tips. On a screwdriver set, if you break a tip you just have to throw that driver out. So if you are looking to stuff someone's stocking, or just trying to get yourself set up with essentials, a multi-tip screwdriver is a must-have!
