Now that the Thanksgiving eating has been accomplished, it's time for Day 9! This tool is definitely an essential for the 12 Tools of Christmas. My uncle, who drives a semi-truck professionally, commented that it is one of the tools he always makes sure is along for the ride.
Day 9: Channellock Pliers - If being a minimalist is high on your priorities, then the Channellock pliers will work for a variety of projects. Don't get me wrong, traditional pliers have their place, but one could argue that if you wanted to stay with just one pair of pliers, the Channellock is the way to go. This tool could substitute for a crescent wrench in a pinch, so you could pair it with a socket set as needed. There is some hand strength needed for the pliers, however, and they are best suited for heavy duty jobs like turning off your gas meter or removing a sewer clean out cap. You could even bend metal if needed. While it may be a bit difficult to come up with a large range of projects, when you need a pair of pliers, Channellock suits a surprising number of needs.
If you want to get fancy this Christmas, consider giving this plier set! While three might seem redundant, I loved having the smallest one in my tool belt, while I prefer the large one for use at home. Again, depending on the size of the hands that will be using the pliers, the different sizes will be more comfortable for different people.
