Day 6 of the 12 Tools of Christmas is a tool that we have used and abused for many years now. Seriously, we wore out the first battery and upgraded to the new lithium batteries, and this tool is still going strong!
Now that we're getting close to half way done with our must-have tools list, it's time to introduce a power tool. The cordless drill is the perfect first power tool. Not overwhelming, not overly complicated to use, and helpful in a large variety of situations. When a regular screwdriver just isn't quite enough, step up your game with this cordless drill.
Ryobi 18 volt Cordless Drill - The model pictured is actually an upgrade from the one we own, which is now no longer available. We love this drill! We have been using it for over 7 years without any problems. A few features that we utilize include the MagTray, a magnetized strip on the drill which holds screws or extra bits. I can't overstate how useful this little tray is when working on a project, and I haven't noticed this on other drills available. Another feature is the battery, the 18 volt lithium is a huge upgrade over the NiCd battery. It is half the size and lasts a lot longer. Also, it charges in only 30 minutes, which is very helpful for extended use. The drill is smooth for running screws or drilling pilot holes. There are more expensive drills, but this one has held up well with repeated use for a great price. What more could you ask of a tool?!?
